Coat Blow Co. started with one frustrated dog owner and a very fluffy Husky.

Every spring and fall, "coat blow" season turned our house into a fur factory. We did what most double-coated dog owners do — bought a standard deshedding rake, and went to work.

What we didn't expect was how much damage it did. The fine, closely-spaced teeth couldn't tell the difference between loose undercoat and the coarse guard hairs that are supposed to stay put. Session after session, we were quietly cutting and thinning our dog's topcoat — the same coat that's supposed to protect her from sun, cold, and skin irritation. She started flinching at the sight of the brush, and we didn't blame her.

So we went looking for a better tool, and couldn't find one that actually solved the problem. Every option on the market seemed to trade one issue for another: gentle tools that barely reached the undercoat, or aggressive tools that tore through everything in their path.
